Valencia CF have a regional derby this weekend against Villarreal CF (Saturday 8:45pm CET) and it takes place at a place where they have been strong this season: Mestalla.
Marcelino's men have only lost twice at home this term in all competitions, suffering defeats by Juventus and Girona. Following the latter -their only LaLiga loss in 2018/19 to date. they have won six of their eight home fixtures, besting Young Boys, Rayo Vallecano, Ebro, Manchester United, Huesca and Sporting Gijon. The other two games, against Sevilla and Valladolid, ended in 1-1 draws.
Curiously, this weekend's opponents are the only side to have claimed 9 points in their last 3 visits to Mestalla, something that Valencia CF will look to bring to an end in the first of two vital home games. Following the derby, they host Getafe in the Copa del Rey Quarter Final 2nd leg next Tuesday.
